Hart swim picks itself back up

The Hart swim team wasn’t wasting any time in moving on from last week’s disappointing finishes against Valencia.

The Indians were dominant on Tuesday at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center, defeating Canyon 109-54 in the girls meet and 132-38 in the boys meet.

Hart was coming off an 89-81 loss to the Valencia girls, a defeat that snapped a 41-meet winning streak. The Valencia boys tied Hart 85-85.

On Tuesday, Hart swept all 11 events of the boys meet, with Cole Cogswell doubling in the 200-yard freestyle with a CIF-Southern Section Division I automatic time, and 100-yard freestyle.

His 47.32-second 100-free time was good for a CIF-Southern Section Division I consideration time.

Naphong Aneksirikul doubled in the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke and Hart took the top two spots in the 200-yard free relay and top three spots in the 400-yard free relay.

In the girls meet, Canyon found a little more success in the form of freshman swimmer Alexa Skorus Neely, who doubled in the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard butterfly.

Her backstroke time of 59.74 and butterfly time of 1 minute, 00.88 seconds were both good for CIF-SS Division I consideration times.

Canyon’s foursome of Sasha Kumar, Skorus Neely, Megan Warr and Rachel Alfred teamed to win the 200-yard medley relay in 1:54.94.

For Hart, Alyssa Schultz doubled in the 200 free and 500 free.
