Actors of the Sunrise Service practice at Vasquez Rocks County Park before their matinee performance Saturday afternoon.

Five Christian evangelical churches from Agua Dulce and Acton - Living Springs Church, The Shepherd Of The Hills, Family Community Church, Acton Faith Bible Church and Crown Valley Community Church - organize the sunrise service every year.

"The driving motivation is to honor Christ," said Mike Sheridan, pastor of Family Community Church of Agua Dulce.

"We want to represent the life and death of Christ as accurately as we can."

The actors use Vasquez Rocks as their stage.

Tom Dluzak, of Acton Faith Bible Church, played John, one of the disciples, and found the setting for the celebration of the life of Christ was perfect.

"We're using God's background," he said.
