SANTA CLARITA - The Associated Student Government (ASG) at College of the Canyons is inviting all students and community members to a public candidate forum with the eight individuals seeking election to California's 25th Congressional District.

The 25th Congressional District Candidate Reception & Forum will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, in the Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center, located on the college's Valencia campus (University Center Drive entrance).

This event is free and open to the public and offers a chance for local voters to ask questions and make their voices heard in front of candidates seeking to serve as this region's elected representative at the congressional level.

The evening will begin with a catered reception. During this time candidates will also have the opportunity to meet with attendees.

The candidate forum is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Each candidate will deliver an opening statement and then be asked to answer several pre-formulated questions. Members of the audience will then be able to ask questions directed to one or all of the candidates.

Anais Armin, College of the Canyons ASG president, and Ryan Joslin, Santa Clarita Community College District (SCCCD) student trustee, will serve as moderators for the forum.

An invitation has been extended to each of the eight candidates in the 25th Congressional District race:

Troy Castagna (R)

Sen. Steve Knight, (R-Antelope Valley)

Michael Mussack (I)

Lee Rogers (D)

Navraj Singh (R)

Tony Strickland (R)

Evan Thomas (D)

At this time Troy Castagna, Sen. Steve Knight, Michael Mussack, Lee Rogers, Tony Strickland and Evan Thomas have indicated that they will be participating in this candidate forum.
