Santa Clarita City Council candidate Bob Spierer has picked up an endorsement from Los Angeles County Firefighters Local 1014, who join the Association of Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs and other groups in backing the former sheriff's captain.

"I am thrilled to have the support of those risking their lives every day to protect our community from fire and other emergency situations," said Spierer, former captain of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station. "On the council, I will be working with these leaders and our local deputies to ensure Santa Clarita remains one of the safest cities in America."

Also endorsing Spierer in the April 8 election is the West Ranch Town Council, which named him as a candidate willing to provide leadership to the entire Santa Clarita Valley. Spierer has also been endorsed by state Sen. George Runner, R-Antelope Valley, and City Councilwoman Laurene Weste.
