Have an eggs-cellent Easter
I hope you found all the hidden Easter eggs, nibbled the ears off your chocolate bunnies and have the ham baking away in the oven.

Have a wonderful Easter day with family and friends.

Vine 2 Wine highlights
The annual Vine 2 Wine benefit for the Betty Ferguson Foundation was the highlight of my last week. I think the food at the event was the best it has ever been. Among the spectacular offerings was the food from Salt Creek Grille catering. The chicken and polenta dish was amazing, as were the dips and homemade chips.

The meatballs from Nardone’s Catering were also first rate and the food offered up by Chris New of Élite Dining & Catering was of a quality you only find on “Iron Chef” or other high-end food programs — the stuff of dreams!

The College of the Canyons culinary arts program brought fantastic desserts — deconstructed strawberry shortcake with port reduction, chocolate bouchons with silk ganache and vanilla scented pavlova with Meyer lemon curd and blackberry confit. I also loved the penne from Bella Cucina Ristorante Italiano.

Seen at Vine 2 Wine
Among those spotted enjoying the bright, beautiful day at the Bridgeport Clubhouse to benefit the Betty Ferguson Foundation: Steve and Julie Sturgeon, Chris and Jayne Fall, Frank and Charlotte Kleeman, Liz Seipel, Pam Ingram, Teresa and Bob Todd, Debbie and John Heys, Shelley Hann, Gloria Mercado and Bruce Fortine, Judy Penman, Barbara Sterns-Cochran, Eve Bushman, Dianne Crawford, Kyle and Jeanna Crawford, Jenny and Scott Thompson, Judy and Joel Cox, Marjanne Priest, Marsha McLean, Jane Bettencourt-Soto, Scott and Vanessa Wilk, Ed and Valerie Masterson, Sue Saffir, Sue Reynolds, Joyce Carson and Doron Schleifer, Diana and Gary Cusumano, Lauren Lefkowitz, Bill and Cathy Kennedy and Sharon Bronson.

BFF wine fun
It was fun to sample some of DiMaggio Washington’s fine port made from grapes harvested from his Acton home’s backyard.

It was also great to see Lil Lepore and Shari Frazier and sample a wonderful white from Vino 100. There was also great wine to be had from Wine 661, Vintner’s Cellar. Graveyard Vineyards and TGIC Imports.

Docents needed at Rancho Camulos
Rancho Camulos (just 10 minutes away on Highway 126 near Piru), the birthplace of Ramona and a national historic landmark is in need of docents. For more information call (805) 521-1501.

Too many goodbyes

I was sad to hear of the closing of Final Score in Newhall and heartbroken to learn that “The Goose” is no more. I will miss the chocolate malts at Final Score and the spectacular events hosted by “The Goose” — the downtown Union Station event was among my favorites, as well as the annual Loose Goose Wine Festival.

Sadly, with these two losses life in the SCV will never be the same. I appreciate everything that Final Score stood for, fresh, honest, quality food. I appreciate the excitement that The Goose brought to our lives. Goodbye, good luck, may a fair wind find you.
