Dozens of teachers from schools across the Santa Clarita Valley were recognized for their dedication and service this week during the Santa Clarita Valley Education Foundation’s annual Teacher Tribute.

The event, held Wednesday night at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center, recognized a host of teachers from schools in five Santa Clarita Valley districts — the Castaic Union School District, Newhall School District, Saugus Union School District, Sulphur Springs School District and William S. Hart Union High School District.

“It’s to show our appreciation for all that teachers do and the impact that they have on students,” Santa Clarita Valley Education Foundation Executive Director Ann Unger said of the event.

The 30th annual Teacher Tribute is meant to honor teachers who demonstrate leadership, inspire their students and fellow teachers, display professionalism, engage and support students and maintain an effective learning environment, according to Unger.

“We look for those examples of outstanding educators, and there’s so many of them,” Unger said. “Each year there’s a different set and we’re really lucky to have the educators that we have in this valley.”
