The event celebrates the values and principles of the American Red Cross by recognizing people in the Santa Clarita Valley who have taken action in a time of crisis to help others and who consistently show an extraordinary gift for human compassion.
Hero honors are being awarded in eleven different categories: First responder, youth, educator, medical, workplace, military, youth sports mentor, senior, adult, animal and corporate hero.
Hometown Heroes will be honored at a breakfast 7 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at the Valencia Hyatt, 24500 Town Center Drive, Valencia.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Red Cross emergency response and educational services in the Santa Clarita Valley.
The qualifying recognition period is June 1, through May 31.
The nomination deadline is June 15. The application forms can be downloaded at www.heroes.hometownstation.com.
