Troubled celebrity son Redmond O'Neal spent another day in court Friday, this time for a probation violation stemming from charges filed in February 2008, a D.A. spokeswoman said.

LAX Court Judge Nancy Newman declared on Friday that O'Neal, son of actors Ryan O'Neal and Farrah Fawcett, violated his probation. She ordered him back to LAX Court April 17 for sentencing, said Jane Robison, Los Angeles County District Attorney spokeswoman. O'Neal, 24, faces up to three years in state prison, she said.

The judge determined O'Neal violated his probation conditions three times since being sentenced to probation in February 2008 for two counts of drug possession and driving under the influence, Robison said. She declined to detail the circumstances or the dates of the violations.

Friday's court appearance caps off a week of court dates and trouble with the law for O'Neal.

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies arrested O'Neal in the Pitchess Detention Center parking lot on Sunday after he admitted possession of heroin. O'Neal appeared in Santa Clarita Superior Court on Tuesday for the heroin charges, but the proceeding was delayed until April 24.

O'Neal was due in the Malibu Superior Court on Wednesday to face charges filed in an October 2008 arrest for felony drug possession, felony possession of an opium pipe, misdemeanor possession of an opium pipe and unlawful use of tear gas, said Shiara Davila, D.A. spokeswoman.

The court date was postponed due to mounting legal problems, Davila said.

O'Neal is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail. He will return to Santa Clarita Superior Court, division one, at 8:30 a.m. on April 24 to be arraigned on his most recent heroin charges.
