Higher Vision Church will celebrate Easter the same day as everyone else, but it’s joining with another Castaic-area church in throwing a party the day before.

The church, located on The Old Road in Valencia, is partnering with Sloan Canyon Baptist Church of Castaic to host an Easter outreach titled “Parties for the Lord” for those in need.

The event will be held April 19 at noon in Val Verde Community Regional Park.

“(The event is for) basically anybody who is in need,” said Clint Soehnel, who attends Higher Vision. “We won’t hold back.”

Attendees can peruse and take free toys, clothes, baby items and household goods that will be laid out and available in a first-come, first-served manner.

Groceries will be allotted at no cost to families based on the number of family members. And chili-mac — macaroni and cheese mixed with corn bread — will be served for lunch.

The two-hour event, to be staffed by church volunteers, includes music, games and an Easter basket for each child.
Higher Vision held two similar events last year, one in Castaic in July and the other a Thanksgiving-themed outreach in Newhall.
