Together, the SCV Economic Development Corporation (SCVEDC), Valley Industrial Association (VIA) and the SCV Chamber of Commerce have set an achievable goal to visit with one hundred companies in May 2014.

This outreach campaign was collectively designed to help evaluate the business climate in the Santa Clarita Valley.

The goal is to better understand the business community’s needs; especially if there are barriers to expand operations in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Each business that is selected will be asked to fill out a one-page survey. The data collected will be aggregated and shared with the City’s leadership to ensure the SCV is actively addressing barriers to business growth and expansion.

The SCVEDC, VIA and the SCV Chamber each selected thirty-five companies to visit. Staff members are preparing to work the phones in order to schedule 15-minute site visits during the week of May 12th - 16th, 2014. It will not be an easy task, but these three SCV service providers are up to the task.

The questions that will be asked include, but are not limited to:

- Size of facilityNumber of employees

- Plans to expand or relocate

- Interested in importing or exporting

- Technology infrastructure satisfaction

- Workforce training utilization

In simple terms, the SCVEDC, VIA and the SCV Chamber are going to listen to business owners and executive leaders to better understand their needs.

Even if this outreach campaign will only reach a small fraction of the SCV business community – it’s a start.

Please contact the SCVEDC at (661) 288-4400 or www.scvedc.org if you are a business owner or corporate executive who would like to participate.
