Sequoia Students Visit School's Namesakes
Sequoia Charter School junior high students embraced their namesake and took a trip to the Sequoia National Forest. Most of the students in the class had never seen a mighty Sequoia and did not have an understanding of the majesty of its size. Following the trip, the students engaged in a study of forest life and completed an English essay analyzing the imagery of the Sequoia tree and how it relates to the strengths of the school.

Saugus Celebrates Women in History
Famous women in history from Cleopatra to Sally Ride told their stories "in person" when the American Association of University Women (AAUW) brought its Women in History program to Saugus High School recently. Saugus students were given the chance to watch short monologues featuring teachers and staff dressing the part of women who have contributed to the women's movement. This year's performances featured Sally Ride, Cleopatra, Tasha Tudor, Irene Sendler, Babe Didrikson and one of Pearl Bailey's relatives. The program recognizes Women in History Month.
