A Newhall woman was injured and rushed to the hospital with lacerations to her head and neck, a local sheriff’s deputy said Monday.

The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, was conscious and talking to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s detectives after the attack, said Deputy Josh Dubin.

About 11:30 a.m. Saturday, paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to reports of an assault in the 24200 block of Pine Street in Newhall.

Deputies responding to the address for reports of an assault with a deadly weapon arrested car wash worker Juan Francisco Lopez, 30, a resident of the same address, on suspicion of attempted murder, Dubin said.

Lopez was scheduled to appear in San Fernando Superior Court Tuesday, according to information maintained by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Inmate Information Center.

He is being held without bail at Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station jail.
