Why red-light cameras here?

It seems to me that if any city would need to have red-light cameras set up, it would be Los Angeles.

After all, there are more unlicensed drivers there, and many un-insured drivers as well.

I seem to remember they canceled their contract because very few paid their citations. They determined that is was not beneficial to have red-light cameras operating.

I believe the same was done in the Antelope Valley by the city and/or county there.

Bottom line, obviously Santa Clarita knows that affluent people will pay their tickets, and red-light cameras are a revenue generator. Pretty sad to use the excuse of public safety — it’s about the money, folks).

I can’t believe that they are hanging their hat on an 18 percent reduction of vehicle accidents in intersections when rear-end collisions have increased 13 percent
