We need more transparency in our elections

So sad to see another state legislator, Leland Yee, accused of criminal political corruption.

Too bad Assemblyman Scott Wilk, R-Santa Clarita, votes consistently against “sunshine” laws like the Disclose Act, SB52.

Because Republicans blocked it, the Senate missed a great opportunity to pass what should have been a no-brainer: SB 27, the bill to make “dark money” non-profits reveal their secret contributors when they try to buy California elections.

Why don’t Republicans want the public to know who is funding political campaigns? If we have more transparency in elections, then the likelihood of political corruption is less.

Ask Scott Wilk to vote for all the good-government “clean money” bills by calling his district office at (661) 286-1565.

And visit the California Clean Money Campaign website at http://www.caclean.org/problem/.
