A 24-year-old man stabbed several times, allegedly by his father, has been released from the hospital and has left the state to visit his mother, a person close to the man said.

Schuyler Phillipson of Montana was released from Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital this week, said the source, who did not want to be identified for this story.

The man’s father, Michael Brian Phillipson, was arrested at a home on Catala Avenue in Saugus the day of the stabbing on suspicion of attempted murder, said Deputy Josh Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station.

“It was apparently a father-and-son domestic,” Dubin said of the March 20 attack. “Doctors stated that (the victim) would survive.”

Phillipson and his father had been in the Santa Clarita Valley performing home repairs. But their residence was the home in which the stabbing occurred.

“The victim was stabbed multiple times during the incident,” Deputy Mark Manskar wrote in his weekly zone report from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “Deputies responded and arrested the suspect without incident.”

The elder Phillipson, age 56, remains in custody with bail set at $60,000. His bail was initially set at $1 million, according to the Sheriff’s Department Inmate Information Center.
