A Canyon Country man was arrested on suspicion he assaulted someone with a deadly weapon following an alleged knife incident Wednesday night, a spokesman for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said.

About 9 p.m. Wednesday, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the 18000 block of Annes Circle near Sandy Drive and Jakes Way on reports of a man armed with a knife, said Deputy Josh Dubin.

“There was no serious injury; the victim was not stabbed,” he said Thursday.

Deputies responding the call were informed by their radio dispatcher that the suspect had fled the scene, prompting them to search an area of Annes Circle.

Shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday, they arrested a 45-year-old man who lives in the area. Giovanni Pierotti was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, not a firearm.

Pierotti remains in custody with bail set at $30,000. He is scheduled to appear Friday in San Fernando Superior Court.
