Obamacare: biggest fiasco since Prohibition

In Tuesday’s Democratic Voices column in The Signal (“The game-changer for Democrats”), Kevin Buck wrote another of his signature Dem/socialist rah-rah pieces cheering all things leftist, booing all things conservative and Republican, and essentially pinning his arguments on Obamacare, claiming “millions of Americans now have access to quality, low-cost insurance and health care for the first time in their lives.”

Well, first of all, everyone in the country already had access to such medical care through our system of hospitals which, by law, can’t turn anyone away based on their ability to pay (another huge problem that needs to be addressed, but is a subject for another time).

But more importantly, what are the real effects of Obamacare? Premiums, co-pays, deductibles, maximum out-of-pocket expenses — all skyrocketing.

Drug formularies being reclassified to make many drugs much more expensive to the end users. Employers ending employee health plans, refusing to hire more full-time workers, and cutting hours of employees.

Meantime, the “young invincibles” are still not enrolling in the necessary numbers, finding it cheaper to just pay the penalties (which are only collected from tax refunds anyway, something most don’t get, immunizing them from even that).

Obama basically waiving even that with the new “hardship exemption” that basically says anyone can claim “hardship” without explanation and be exempted.

Obamacare is the biggest fiasco to come down the pike since Prohibition, and like Prohibition it needs to be repealed.
