I have the time for Councilman TimBen Boydston to research and present the facts in a transparent manner when a 50-year lighted billboard contract is at stake.

I would not call it transparency when Couoncilwoman Marsha McLean indicates the land for the lighted billboard on Norland Road and Highway 14 is not open space because it will have a land-use-designation-change in the One Valley, One Vision General Plan for the 50-year lighted billboard contract.

Is the land in question for the placement for the billboard on open space? Designated or purchased, is it open space now?

Finally the answer from the city attorney: Yes, it is open space, he finally answers.

Sometimes it takes awhile to get the facts when there is wiggle room on the city attorneys’ part, and that is no fault of the council person who you say uses rambling diatribes.

This kind of knowledge should be a concern of all five of the council members who represent their constituents.

That would show that transparency is part of the process, instead of dancing around the true designation of the land for the billboard placement.
