The mission of Soroptimist International of Greater Santa Clarita Valley is to help women and girls. And that mission can be furthered by voting on a man.

Soroptimist International’s fourth annual fashion show, themed “Fashion, Follies & Fun,” is to be held today at the Hyatt Regency Valencia, and it’s sold out.

But to raise more money to assist women globally and locally, the group is holding a Favorite Male Model contest.

Voting is open to the public at SigSCV.org/favorite-male-model. Each vote for a model costs $5, which will go toward SIGSCV’s programs and mission.

“We have some wonderful male models from here in the community,” SIGSCV’s President Vanessa Wilk said.

The 11 male model contestants are: state Sen. Steve Knight; Alex Hafizi; B.J. Atkins; Dante Acosta; Dr. Dell Goodrick; Kirk Stinson; Lance Morrison; Mike Bjorkman; Myles McNamara; Oscar Dominguez; and Scott LaRue.

There’s no cap on how many votes a person can cast, and the donations are tax-deductible.

The fashion show kicks off at 10:30 a.m. today with a boutique, which is open to the public, followed at noon by a luncheon and the fashion show.
