Redmond O’Neal’s court proceeding for heroin possession was delayed Tuesday. It was continued to April 24 when O’Neal, 24, the son of actors Ryan O’Neal and Farrah Fawcett, is expected to enter a plea.

O’Neal was arrested Sunday during a trip with a friend to Pitchess Detention Center. During a search of O’Neal’s car, he voluntarily told a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy he was in possession of heroin.

O’Neal’s lawyer, Bill Slattery, asked for an arraignment continuance on Tuesday in Santa Clarita Superior Court. Judge Graciela Freixes approved the delay but wouldn’t budge on the bail amount. She set bail at $75,000.

Sunday’s arrest was O’Neal second in six months. He was arrested in October 2008 for felony drug possession, felony possession of an opium pipe, misdemeanor possession of an opium pipe and unlawful use of tear gas, said Shiara Davila, D.A. spokeswoman.

“He is expected in court in Malibu on those charges on Wednesday (today),” Davila said.

O’Neal’s arraignment on the most recent charges will be in Santa Clarita Superior Court, division 1 at 8:30 a.m.
