Doublespeak and fringe rhetoric

The “Drawing Conclusions” cartoon published in The Signal on March 18 is a perfect example of the doublespeak that comes so easily from the fringes of both left and right — and the stupidity of the voters who don’t even bother to think about what they’re hearing.

It showed Uncle Sam declaring, “I want every eligible citizen to be able to vote without having to show a birth certificate or multiple IDs or having to wait in long lines for hours or not be able to vote early.

“It’s every citizen’s right to vote and I want it to be as simple and convenient as humanly possible.”

Sounds wonderful! So, tell me, how are you going to ensure that the people who vote are “eligible citizens”?
