Mansfield wins counseling award

Bowman High School counselor Suzy Mansfield has been named the 2008-09 recipient of the H.S. McDaniel Individual Award.

 
Bowman High School counselor Suzy Mansfield has been named the 2008-09 recipient of the prestigious H.S. McDaniel Individual Award for her outstanding contributions to the field of counseling and guidance in the state of California.

The award is given by the H.B. McDaniel Foundation, named for the "father of school counseling and guidance in California."

Mansfield was honored for her leadership in developing Bowman's comprehensive guidance program, career and college planning programs and the digital high school grant. Special appreciation was voiced for her compassionate work with students in alternative education, disadvantaged students and multi-cultural students.

The award will be presented at Stanford University in June.
