Living history: Heritage Junction

First-grade students from Mrs. Blue's class at Plum Canyon Elementary School enjoy a field trip to Heritage Junction at William S. Hart Park in Newhall.

Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society docents led tours of the Saugus Train Station, the Kingsley House, the Edison House, a one-room schoolhouse, a tiny chapel and the Mitchell Adobe. Students dressed as children did in the past, the girls in pinafores and the boys in suspenders and caps. The field trip was the culmination of a "living history" unit, and all costs were paid for by a grant from Azusa Pacific College and the Southern California Historical Society.
