Two weeks ago, I submitted my paperwork with the Registrar of Voters to become an official candidate for Congress.

Although I’ve represented a great deal of this area in the State Senate and the State Assembly, I realize that many may not know me, my record, or what I stand for.

It’s unfortunate that too few of our representatives say what they mean and mean what they say. I’m running for Congress to stop the President’s harmful economic policies, to repeal ObamaCare and replace it with common sense, free market solutions, and to fight for a balanced budget amendment to reduce our debt.

Upon announcing his retirement, longtime Congressman Buck McKeon announced that he was going to be supporting me in my campaign to represent our community in Washington.

Congressman McKeon has endorsed me because he knows I made the tough choices in the State legislature, and that I’ll do the same in Congress.

I led on conservative issues — I fought for a hard cap on state spending, to stop the car tax, and to reduce taxes on hard working families. I earned 100% ratings from the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association and the California

Taxpayers Association by fighting for hard working families and defending Prop. 13.

When I saw something wrong, I acted to fix it, no matter the political cost.

That is why I ignored the advice of political insiders and took Governor Gray Davis to court and forced him to reveal the cost of the outrageously expensive energy deals he negotiated in secret with companies like Enron.

Our action forced rates to be renegotiated, resulting in billions of saving for ratepayers.

I didn’t back down in Sacramento, and I won’t in Washington. Just like I stood up to Gray Davis, I won’t back down to President Obama and Nancy Pelosi whose liberal policies threaten our economy and our way of life.

In Congress, I’ll be a conservative champion for a balanced budget that reigns in our national debt and protects our country for future generations.

Make no mistake; I’m going to Congress to lead. I’d be honored with your trust and your vote.

Tony Strickland, Candidate for Congress in California’s 25th Congressional District.
