Zone 5-Valencia had fifteen Part-1 Crimes reported during the past week. The criminal incidents included an assault with a deadly weapon, grand theft, and numerous shoplifting from various businesses.

An assault with a deadly weapon occurred between Bouquet Canyon Road and Valencia Boulevard on 5:00 pm. The suspect, a male transient, was seen swinging a metal club at an electrical box then began swinging the club at bunch of cyclists. The suspect was arrested shortly after and transported to the Santa Clarita Station for booking. No one was hurt during this incident.

A grand theft occurred on the 25600 block of Rye Canyon Road between the hours of 3:30 pm and 5:00 am. The victim reported that 65 feet of cooper wire was taken from a storage container located on the Southern California Edison lot. No suspect or witnesses were located. The investigation is currently ongoing.

Continue to keep vehicle burglaries and thefts down. Do not leave items visible in your vehicle! Take all personal belongings with you when you exit your vehicle or secure items in locked trunks. Do not leave items underneath vehicle seats or cover them with clothing apparel or blankets. Thieves know this technique. Remember to roll up all windows and lock doors before walking away from your vehicle. Keep theft down. Take careful steps to not become a victim. Be mindful of your surroundings. Do not leave personal items unattended in public areas, such as restaurants, shopping carts or counter tops of businesses.

If you see any suspicious activity, please call the Sheriff’s Station immediately at 661-255-1121. There were multiple arrests made this past week by proactive Santa Clarita Deputies assigned to the Valencia area. Arrests included, under the influence of narcotics, drunk in public, warrants and numerous shoplifting from local businesses.
