A dead bat that tested positive for rabies was found in Agua Dulce in February, county health officials announced this week.

The bat was found dead in a swimming pool, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

The Agua Dulce bat is one of two that have tested positive for rabies so far this year, according to health officials.

The other was found in Los Angeles.

The Santa Clarita Valley is typically a hotbed for rabid bat activity, due in part to the area’s high bat population.

Health officials reported that 14 of the 33 rabid bats found last year in Los Angeles County were located in the Santa Clarita Valley.
