Residents interested in joining the City of Santa Clarita’s team of dedicated water safety professionals are invited to attend lifeguard tryouts on Saturday, March 8, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center. All candidates must complete and submit an online application form in advance at Agency.GovernmentJobs.com/SantaClarita/ in order to be considered.

Interested applicants must be able to tread water for one minute while holding a 10-pound object above the water, and swim continuously for 400 yards in under 7 minutes and 30 seconds. Candidates that successfully complete the swim test will be granted an interview. All candidates must be 16 years of age or older by Wednesday, May 28, 2014, and bring proof of age in order to be considered for employment. A parent or guardian must accompany any candidates 17 years of age or under.

The original deadline to apply and test to become a Santa Clarita lifeguard was scheduled for March 1, 2014. However, due to inclement weather experienced over the weekend, the City of Santa Clarita opted to extend the deadline and host one additional tryout session.

The Santa Clarita Aquatic Center is located at 20850 Centre Pointe Parkway. For more information, please call (661) 250-3761, or visit Santa-Clarita.com/Aquatics.
