The Santa Clarita Christian girls soccer team beat Tarbut V’Torah 4-0 on Saturday night in a CIF-Southern Section Division VII quarterfinal game at College of the Canyons.

SCCS was playing in its first quarterfinal in school history, and it will now move on to its first semifinal, which will also be played at COC on Tuesday against Gabrielino.

On Saturday night, the game didn’t begin until after 9 p.m. and it didn’t wrap up until close to 11 p.m.

For religious reasons, the Tarbut V’Torah team, from Irvine, was unable to travel to the Santa Clarita Valley until late at night.

SCCS (18-0-4) quickly established itself as the dominant team.

Gracie Gwinn scored the first goal for SCCS, and the scoring was followed by teammates Susannah Gwinn, Lauren Gallagher and Kim Curry.

“Some of the girls were saying we could have won the game 10-0,” said SCCS head coach Matt Gale.

If SCCS wins its semifinal game, it will join the school’s boys basketball team in a CIF championship next weekend.
