Monday night at the Small Dog Creative, a group of Santa Clarita entrepreneurs from SCV Startup gathered to hear wisdom from Howard Leonhardt.

He spoke on the topic of fundraising from venture capital to crowdfunding. As a founder and chairman of The California Stock Xchange (Cal-X), Howard’s knowledge base impressed and educated those who came.

“To have had the opportunity to listen and learn from Howard, a man who is responsible for the technology behind so many life saving innovations was truly an honor,” said Kevin L’Heureux. “Howard is a modern day Edison, up there with the likes of Steve Jobs and Elon Musk,”

Leonhardt holds 21 patents for products designed to treat cardiovascular disease. His inventions have treated more than 200,000 patients in 60 countries. Combined, they have generated more than $3 billion in revenues. He shared with the group how he built companies with little starting capital.

First time attendee, Dan Walker said, “This was my first time attending the SCV-Startup and I have to say, I was blown away by Howard Leonhardt, his partners and their amazing sense of being so down to earth.”

The SCV Startup group began in October 2011 to help startup entrepreneurs. With 290 members, the group exists to connect the digital people and high quality venture investors to establish, mentor, and grow technology companies in the Southern California.
