Plum Canyon Elementary's Act of Kindness week officially ended on Jan. 31, but the school hopes that the acts of kindness seen stay with the kids all year long.

At the beginning of the week, each student was given strips of paper and the instructions to write on that paper the acts of kindness that happened to them or that was seen by them.

These strips of paper were made into a paper chain of kindness that wrapped around the Multipurpose Room walls more than once as it was hung.

The last act of kindness was introduced by the Principal, Mary Jane Kelly, when she had a Buddy Bench installed on the playground yard.

The Buddy Bench is a concept developed by a second grader in New York, to help kids from feeling lonely on the playground.

Any student at Plum Canyon that is in need of a friend or wants to play, only needs to sit on the Buddy Bench. Other students will then tell that student "I can be your buddy!" and invite them to play.
