A 26-year-old Valencia man arrested on sex charges for crimes allegedly committed in St. Louis, Missouri, worked part-time at a Santa Clarita Valley church, officials confirmed Wednesday.

Brandon Milburn is charged with six felony counts of first-degree statutory sodomy for allegedly molesting multiple victims between 2007 and 2009 in Missouri. He was in custody Wednesday in St. Louis.

“We’re just hearing about it now, and it’s an ongoing investigation still being assessed,” Real Life Church Executive Pastor Fred Gray said at the church Wednesday morning.

Gray confirmed Milburn, who came to California in 2010, had worked part time at the church. The church’s Facebook page informed members that the St. Louis suspect worked at the church for 5 1/2 months but was no longer employed there.

“His job responsibilities did not involve working with children,” the Facebook post said, adding he worked in the church’s production department only and “came with references and cleared a background check.”

Milburn had recently moved to Valencia from Simi Valley, Gray said.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges against Milburn Feb. 7 for six counts of statutory sodomy in the first degree, according to a news release issued by St. Louis police Officer Brian Schellman.

According to a copy of the criminal complaint filed against Milburn by St. Louis prosecutors and obtained by The Signal Wednesday, Milburn is alleged to have engaged two boys, each under 12 years old, in sexual contact which included touching the penis of each boy, having them touch his penis and performing oral sex on each of them.

Each of the incidents is alleged to have taken place on, or about, June 1, 2007.

Milburn was arrested at the St. Louis Police Department after arriving in Missouri to attend a function this month.

A police investigator, responding to a sexual assault complaint and knowing Milburn was in Missouri, asked the man to come to the police station, said police Sgt. Matthew Redmond. He was arrested Feb. 6.

“(The investigator) knew he was going to be back in St. Louis, so she told him ‘We’d like to talk to you’ and he voluntarily came in and confessed the crime,” the sergeant said.

“He gave his address as 23841 Newhall Ranch Road” in Valencia, Redmond said. That is the address of Real Life Church.

Redmond said he’s concerned that there may be victims in California and has asked that anybody “who has had contact with (Milburn) which they thought was inappropriate contact or sexual abuse to call your local police department.”

Milburn is currently being held in St. Louis on a $100,000 cash-only bond.

An investigation by the St. Louis County Police Bureau of Crimes Against Persons revealed Milburn allegedly molested multiple victims between 2007 and 2009, Schellman said.

St. Louis County police asked anyone who believed he or she may have been victimized by Milburn to call the station at 314-889-2341 or to call detectives at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at 255-1121.

The Real Life Church Facebook statement said no complaints about Milburn were received by church officials. It said all volunteers who work with children at the church are given background checks, and security cameras are located in all children’s rooms.

The statement said parishioners were urged to contact the church if they had any concerns about the suspect, and “We ask that you pray for all involved.”
