The seniors for the West Ranch Wildcats basketball team made their senior night one to remember.

Behind its soon-to-be graduates, the Wildcats defeated the Golden Valley Grizzlies 87-49 Tuesday at West Ranch High.

Of the team’s eight seniors, four had individual moments of stardom, including Alec Rodriguez, Izayah Doyle, Jon Semerjian and Ryne Williams.

“Everyone got their chance to show up in the game,” said Semerjian, who finished with a game-high 17 points. “They all rose to the occasion.”

Semerjian actually rose to the occasion twice.

He scored the first six points of the game for the Wildcats, and scored another 11 points in the final 13 minutes of play.

Following Semerjian’s production in the first quarter, Rodriguez took over.

The 6-foot wingman knocked down three consecutive 3-pointers to give West Ranch (13-12 overall, 6-3 Foothill) a 15-6 lead.

And after Rodriguez, it was Doyle’s time to shine.

Capped off with a two-handed slam dunk, Doyle scored 16 of the Wildcats’ next 20 points to push the lead to 37-19.

“I was happy for all the seniors (because of) all the adversity we’ve been through this year,” Doyle said.

Williams had his moment to start the third quarter.

The 6-foot-10 center scored the first 10 points of the period, which included a dunk of his own, to extend the West Ranch lead to 63-26.

“We just told them to play aggressive and have fun. It’s one of your last times to play on this floor, so you might as well make it count,” said West Ranch head coach Shant Bicakci.

In the Foothill League finale, West Ranch will play at Valencia in a battle for second place, while Golden Valley (8-15 overall, 1-8 Foothill) will play at home against Saugus.

David Robins and Kevin DeGuzman each scored nine points to co-lead the Grizzlies.
