Last year's "So You Think You Can Dance" contest winner, Fik-Shun performs on stage at the second annual "A Starry, Starry Night" WiSH Education Foundation fundraiser held at West Ranch High School on Saturday night.

The stars and crowds were out in full force Saturday night to raise more than $15,000 for the WiSH Education Foundation during a fundraiser at West Ranch High School.

The fundraiser, “A Starry, Starry Night,” featured a series of dance performances, some including stars from two popular television shows — “Dancing With the Stars” and “So You Think You Can Dance.”

The foundation’s second annual event raised money to go toward literacy programs and efforts in the William S. Hart Union High School District, according to Amy Daniels, executive director of the foundation.

“The crowd that is here really wants to be here,” Daniels said. “There’s great energy. Everybody is very excited.”

Daniels said more than 150 people turned out Saturday, and the event raised more than $15,000.

“It shows the community really appreciates and supports what we’re doing,” Daniels said of the event.

Daniels said she hopes next year’s event will build on this year’s success.

“I hope people see the pictures on Facebook or hear from their friends about how much fun they had and they decide to come out as well,” Daniels said.
