A man robbed Art's Liquor Store at gunpoint today, fleeing with the clerk wallet and money from the register, a sheriff's official said.

The suspect walked into Art's Liquor Store in the 18300 block of Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country at approximately 12:45 p.m. today, said Lt. Brenda Cambra of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station.

During a transaction with the store clerk, the suspect pulled a handgun on the clerk.

"He forced the employee to hand over his wallet and took the money from the register," Cambra said.

The suspect fled on foot, with an undisclosed amount of cash, headed west on Soledad Canyon Road.

Deputies are looking for the suspect described as a black male, between 23- and 25-years-old, standing 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds.

Sheriff's detectives continue investigating the robbery and ask anyone with information about it to call the sheriff's station at (661) 255-1121.
