This surveillance photo provided by the Sheriff's Department shows a woman identified as the "blond scammer."

A woman dubbed the “Blond Scammer” and convicted of identity theft earlier this month for a crime committed in the Santa Clarita Valley a year ago failed to appear in court on a similar charge in Ventura, a court clerk said.

Pilar Raine Abalos, 42, of Poway, was scheduled to make a “mandatory appearance” Monday at Ventura County Superior Court.

“She failed to appear,” a court clerk told The Signal Tuesday.

Abalos is now scheduled to appear in the same courtroom March 3 for another mandatory appearance.

Abalos was charged with three counts for identity theft crimes committed in the Santa Clarita Valley in early 2013. She was accused of stealing wallets from women’s purses while they shopped and using their credit cards to obtain cash or purchase valuables.

On Jan. 15, Abalos received a suspended sentence in San Fernando Superior Court after she entered a plea of no contest to a single charge of identity theft, Richardo Santiago, spokesman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office said at the time.

She’s scheduled for sentencing March 12, Santiago said. At that time she’s expected to be sentenced to a suspended three years in prison, three years formal felony probation, 50 days of community labor and six months in a residential drug program, he said.

Abalos was arrested by Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies on March 27 when she walked out a courtroom in San Fernando and into the arms of waiting deputies.

In Ventura, she faces charges of identity theft — in particular, obtaining credit with others’ identification — as well as forgery and two counts of second-degree commercial burglary, court papers show.
