Two child actors from Valencia were honored for their positive contributions to the entertainment industry during a March 15 C.A.R.E. (Child Actor Recognition Event) award ceremony at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Merit Leighton, a 6-year-old actress, has been modeling in catalogs and ad campaigns since 6 months old. She began her TV and film career in July.

Her award recognizes her work in the short film "The Unopened Basket" and three national commercials that include Yoplait, Leap Frog and National Association of Realtors.

Five-year-old actor Jadon Sand was featured in commercials for Wal-Mart, Motts Apple Juice, The Disney Channel and Kia Motors and an independent short film, two music videos and two student films.

He is the youngest of five award-winners to have their essays selected for a special award and recognition.
