Saugus Girls Soccer Wins CIF Championship
The girls soccer team from Saugus High School has let other teams in the CIF Southern Section know that the Santa Clarita Valley is a force to be reckoned with in the field of women's soccer. The local girls completed the year with a win-loss record of 20-3-3 and won the Southern Section Championship by 2-1 against Harvard Westlake. Not only is this Saugus' first girls soccer CIF championship, but this is the first time a soccer team from the Santa Clarita Valley has won CIF outright. With only four seniors graduating this year, the team expects to be a formidable opponent next year as well. A number of the Saugus girls also have won individual All-CIF honors, according to Head Coach Lisa Rollo.

Pennies Benefit Leukemia Patients
La Mesa Junior High participated in the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society's Pennies for Patients program for the sixth consecutive year. This year, they were visited by Tyler Cordova, a young man from Valencia who represents all the patients who benefit from the money raised by this group. He came out and videotaped some personal messages that were broadcast to the entire school. This year, the campus raised over $3,940. In this picture, Tyler is seen with some members of ASB: (from left) Sarah DeHerrera, Megan Pinkston, Ashley Pfenning, and Lindsay Burke.
