Man sought in assault

The victim filed no complaint — no one could find him.

The host didn’t know his guest’s name.

And the perpetrator was nowhere to be found.

But Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s deputies were searching Monday for a baseball-bat-wielding partygoer who reportedly hit a guest in the head with his weapon during a weekend party that turned into a brawl at a Saugus home.

The assault was reported to deputies shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday at a home on Arriola Avenue, according to a report filed in the SCV Sheriff’s Station log.

At the scene, deputies recovered as evidence a tan-colored wooden baseball bat with a broken handle. They also found partygoers — most of whom didn’t want to talk. But what they didn’t find was the victim.

The perpetrator started the fight, one witness told a deputy, “but when he got out-numbered he went out to his car and got a bat.”

“Then he walked into the house and started swinging it at anyone who got near him. One guy got hit in the head and fell down but I don’t know who that was,” the witness said.

The host of the party said he didn’t know who the victim was, either.

Deputies didn’t find the victim at the party or at the local hospital.

The partygoers and host “were non-desirous of any police action,” the deputy wrote in his report. Investigators determined an assault was committed anyway.

The suspect was described as a 6-foot-tall Armenian man with black hair and brown eyes, weighing 180 pounds, believed to be about 20 years old and having multiple tattoos on his torso.
