The Master's College's Megan Lindsley (32) scores against Arizona Christian at TMC on Saturday.

Now that The Master’s College women’s basketball is into conference play, it’s all about finding ways to improve on the small things.

After Saturday night’s 77-45 rout of Arizona Christian at Bross Court, it doesn’t appear TMC has a lot to work on at the moment as it extended its winning streak to nine games.

“Going into the game, we’ve really been improving a lot with what we’ve been doing offensively and I thought we were relying on that a little bit, so this week we really got back to our defensive and rebounding roots,” said TMC head coach Dan Waldeck.

As for the defense, the NAIA No. 9 Mustangs (14-3 overall, 2-0 Golden State Athletic Conference) held Arizona Christian to 31.4 percent shooting. Check.

And TMC outrebounded Arizona 48-28. Check.

When it came to TMC’s offense, it was another ho-hum 48 percent shooting night and nearly 80 points.

Coming into the game, the Mustangs ranked third in the nation among NAIA Division I teams by scoring an average of 82.19 points per game.

“We have a lot of kids who can knock it dead from the perimeter and we have a lot of kids who can create their own shots and I think we have a lot of dominant post players,” Waldeck said.

The scoring on Saturday night was spread out like it usually is for the Mustangs.

Jacquelyn Marshall led the team with 14 points and both Zoe Scott and Megan Lindsley added 11 points apiece.

Ten different TMC players scored.

The Mustangs opened the game on a 17-0 streak and didn’t allow Arizona (5-11, 0-2) to score for the first five minutes of the game.

Prayer Branham led Arizona with 18 points.

“We have a lot of depth so I think that means we can have some fresh legs and hopefully that bodes well for us late in the season,” Waldeck said.
