Some of the Santa Clarita Valley’s top prep football seniors will get one last high school game on Sunday.

Nineteen area players will compete in The Daily News’ San Fernando Valley All-Star Game at 2 p.m. at College of the Canyons’ Cougar Stadium.

The game is a benefit for the Valley Youth Conference, the San Fernando Valley’s youth football organization. Admission is $10 at the door.

The East team is heavily represented by SCV talent.

Foothill League Player of the Year and Canyon quarterback Cade Apsay and Foothill Offensive Player of the Year Valencia wide receiver Nick Jones will play for the East.

Foothill Defensive Player of the Year Valencia defensive end Jourdan Nguyen and Foothill Lineman of the Year Blake Porter are also on the team.

The East will be coached by Hart High graduate and Alemany head coach Dean Herrington.

CIF-Southern Section Northern Division champion Hart will have four players on the team — Porter, wide receiver Wes Fitzpatrick, linebacker Garrett Updegraft and offensive lineman Erik Stafford.

Foothill League champion Valencia will have Jones, Nguyen and wide receiver Malik Townsend.

Canyon players Apsay, WR/defensive back Zach Cuha, DB Tevon Priestley and defensive end Ronnie Walker will play for the East.

Saugus has linebacker Blake Austin, running back Reid Rupe and linebacker Austin Davenport playing on the same team.

Golden Valley lineman Kyle Edwards rounds out the SCV group for the East.

The West will be co-coached by Westlake’s Jim Benkert and coaching legend Bill Redell, who recently returned as head coach of Oaks Christian after a brief retirement.

West Ranch has three players on the West team — defensive end Alex Rassool, who set the school record with 18.5 sacks this past season, linebacker Trevor Aleshire and lineman Egidio DellaRipa.

Santa Clarita Christian’s Derek Lewis will also play for the West.
