A pedestrian crossing Lyons Avenue in Newhall was critically injured after being hit by a truck Friday evening, according to a Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station report.

James Strazzulla, 64, was treated by Los Angeles County Fire Department emergency responders and transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital after being hit around 6:45 p.m., the report said.

Newhall resident Manuel Leanos, 54, was driving his GMC Sierra truck westbound on Lyons Avenue east of Orchard Village Road when he allegedly struck Strazzulla, who was crossing from the south curb to the north curb, according to the report.

Strazulla was in critical condition Saturday, authorities said.
