A coroner’s investigator has identified the victim of a fatal stabbing Friday as 25-year-old Jose Eduardo Ocampo, of Canyon Country.

After an examination done on the man’s body Sunday, coroner’s have released the man’s official cause of death as multiple stab wounds to the chest, said Lt. Fred Corral of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Department.

“Jose Eduardo Ocampo is a 25-year-old male Hispanic of Canyon Country. He died at 22 hours, 55 minutes Friday,” Corral said Sunday.

Detectives with the Homicide Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are still investigating the murder but did not return messages left with the bureau Sunday night.

“I’ve been informed of no arrests that have been made,” Lt.Tom Bryski of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said Sunday.

On Friday at about 10:45 p.m., local sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a stabbing on the 18100 block of Sundowner Way in Canyon Country at approximately 10:45 p.m. Friday, according to a news release by the sheriff’s department.

Ocampo was stabbed to death in what detectives revealed early on in the incident as possibly being gang-related.
Responding deputies found a man lying unconscious on the ground with multiple stab wounds to his upper torso.
Ocampo was pronounced dead at the scene.

The murder suspect or suspects remain outstanding at this time, but the preliminary investigation indicates the stabbing may be a gang-related incident.

The space between two parked cars at the scene was splashed with dried blood, and a trail of dried blood spots led down the street.
