Happy New Year, here is a look back at the crimes reported in the Newhall area last week.

On Monday the 30th, between 5:30 a.m. and 4:10 p.m., a catalytic converter was stolen from a truck while it was parked at the park-n-ride at Newhall Avenue/14 Freeway.

On Thursday the 2nd, at 9:45 a.m., a cell phone was stolen from the 24700 block of Valley Street. The phone was sitting on the back of a vehicle and left unattended for a short period of time.

Two vehicles were reported stolen last week. On January 1st a 2000 Honda Accord was reported stolen from the apartments in the 23600 block of Newhall Avenue and on January 4th a 1988 Toyota pick-up was reported stolen from the 23600 block of Lyons Avenue. Both vehicles have been recovered.

Let’s all work together in 2014 to continue reducing the crime statistics in the Newhall area. Lock your doors and windows, don’t leave valuables in plain view, be aware of your surroundings, and report suspicious behavior.
