LOS ANGELES -- This Mother's Day, May 10, many people are thinking outside the box -- the gift box, that is.

They are celebrating mom and Mother Earth together by dedicating trees through TreePeople's much loved Tree Dedication program.

Tree Dedications last longer than cut flowers and are more original than a greeting card. Moms receive a card or certificate printed on recycled paper with beautiful, original artwork.

Dedication of one tree is $25 and a grove of five trees is $100.

"Mothers love tree dedications," said Andy Lipkis, TreePeople founder and president. "These gifts create a lasting difference in Southern California by helping restore forests impacted by wildfires, smog, drought, bark beetles and overuse."

The trees planted by the nonprofit group TreePeople also curb global warming, provide flood protection, prevent and reverse water pollution, save energy and clean the air.

Dedicated trees will be planted by TreePeople staff and volunteers in the mountains and park woodlands of Los Angeles.
