Dishonest newspapers

Decades ago when I was in college, a journalism professor once told me: "Newspapers are never more dishonest then when they are reporting on themselves or on other newspapers."

I thought of that when I noticed that John Boston, after arriving back again to the pages of The Signal, has once again vanished from the pages of The Signal.

His column was in the paper for a few weeks and then it just vanished. Not a word of explanation has been printed in The Signal about why John is gone again.

So, with honesty in mind, I'd like to propose this: Let the editor or publisher of The Signal write an explanation of why John's recent stay at the paper was so brief and then, right next to that explanation, let John write an explanation of why he is no longer (again) writing for The Signal.

It's called honesty.

Editor's note: As regular readers know, The Signal has recently been forced to take some cost-cutting measures. Unfortunately, John Boston's columns were among the cuts.
