A final note on College of the Canyons’ 2013 football season shows just how good the year was for the Cougars.

The California Community College Football Coaches Association rated COC as the No. 9 team in the state in its final poll.

The Cougars were the sixth-ranked team in Southern California.

COC finished 8-3 overall under first-year head coach Ted Iacenda and won the National Division, Northern Conference title.

Iacenda was the team’s interim head coach, but the school announced on Dec. 20 he was hired as full-time coach, pending COC Board of Trustees approval.

The Cougars earned a postseason berth, but lost 56-17 to state No. 2 Fullerton in the National Bowl on Nov. 23.
COC began the season unranked in the state poll and No. 17 overall in Southern California.
