Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s deputies are looking for two men who punched and robbed a man in Newhall on Thursday, stealing his wallet containing more than $1,000 in cash, a sheriff’s sergeant said.

The two men attacked the victim on Walnut Street shortly after 11:30 a.m. Thursday, sheriff’s Sgt. Jeff Curran said Thursday.

The assailants “punched the guy and took his wallet,” Curran said. “They escaped in a gray Toyota Corolla. We’re still looking for them,” he said Thursday evening.

The pair used their fists in the assault, forcing the victim to hand over his wallet containing a reported $1,140 in cash, and escaping in the Toyota. No weapon besides their fists were reported used in the attack.

The suspects were described as between 21 and 25 years old with black hair. One of them was described as wearing a black hat, black shirt and blue jeans. No description of the second man’s clothing was available.
