A special meeting with one of the most popular magicians of the last century, Doug Henning, helped put Kevin Spencer on the road to his career as a magician.

Spencer once told his mother at age 5 that he would be a magician when he grew up. Fascinated with the art, his first experience with a live magic show featuring harry Blackstone, Jr. convinced the young man that magic would be his career.

In college he met Henning, who invited him backstage after a show and spent an hour with the aspiring magician, which profoundly affected Spencer's life.

Kevin and Cindy Spencer, a husband and wife team of magicians, will bring one of the largest touring illusion companies in the United States to the Santa Clarita Valley on Saturday, April 4 when they perform live on the main stage of the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons, in Valencia.

Tickets to the 8 p.m. performance are still available and range in price from $25 to $55.

The show is described as a "powerful and emotional" experience.

The Spencers have garnered a legion of fans that appreciate the "new generation" of magic the Spencers have created in their sophisticated show, which showcases original magical creations designed exclusively for the Spencers.

People will walk through walls, vanish and reappear and the audience will participate in the Spencers' magic as well.
