Anyone dreaming of a white Christmas in the Santa Clarita Valley will be sorely disappointed.

Even a damp Christmas isn’t likely.

While Thursday’s storm brought just .09 of an inch of precipitation to the Saugus area and .12 inches in Newhall as of 2 p.m., the weather on Christmas Day is due to be mostly sunny with possibly reaching into the 80s.

“It’s just today and then it’s gone,” said Bonnie Bartling, a weather specialist with the National Weather Service in Oxnard, referring to the sprinkling of rain that fell on the Santa Clarita Valley Thursday.

“After that, we’ll see a little of the off-shore winds and temperatures will warm up a couple of degrees,” she said.

Friday morning is expected to be partly cloudy, she said, with a high expected of 60. Overnight low temperatures are expected to be in the upper 30s and mid-40s.

“Then it’ll be a gradual warming,” Bartling said.

Christmas, according to Thursday’s weather forecast, is expected to be dry and in the 70s, perhaps into the 80s.
