SANTA CLARITA - In Grinch-like fashion, thieves made off with more than 100 Christmas trees from a Newhall nursery during the weekend, one of the company’s managers said Monday.

Thieves snipped the chain lock on a perimeter fence at Green Thumb Nurseries on Newhall Avenue and climbed a wall to get to the booty, said Green Thumb manager Laura Gullas.

“They stole at least 100 trees — and even some artificial trees,” Gullas told The Signal.

“Our detective bureau is at the scene and handling this,” Deputy Josh Dubin said Monday.

“The owners said 100 trees are estimated to have been stolen over a couple of days,” he said. The loss was put at about $3,000, Dubin said.

Gullas said she holds out little hope of seeing any of the trees returned.

“I’m sure they’re all sold at a greatly discounted price,” she said.
